Penn State University Libraries awarded its Undergraduate Research Award: Excellence in Information Literacy to students at nearly all undergraduate Penn State campuses in April, honoring 97 undergraduate students as well as eight graduate students participating in their respective campus-wide research exhibition events.

Through Penn State Center Philadelphia, Penn State faculty and students are working with community organizations in Philadelphia to create easier access to health screenings, low cost health care and advice on how to live a healthier lifestyle. One of the first initiatives to come to fruition was a Health Fair at the South Philadelphia Community Health and Literacy Center on April 27.
Penn State University Libraries Short Stories’ “The Other Side” spring 2019 contest winners included 11 student honorees, three faculty/staff honorees, and one local middle school student honoree. Each of the four Libraries Short Stories Editorial Board winners and the People’s Choice winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card. All winners and honorable mentions will have their stories placed on the Libraries’ Short Edition short story dispensers.

This month Penn State bestowed the first Student Sustainability Awards, sponsored by the Sustainability Institute and the Council of Sustainable Leaders. The awards recognized five outstanding undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate a sincere commitment to transforming Penn State into a sustainability leader.
Penn State Hazleton hosted the ninth Eastern Regional Undergraduate Research Symposium, providing students from seven eastern universities the opportunity to display their research. More than 45 students participated in this year’s symposium.
