ABINGTON, Pa. — The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) honored two Penn State Abington basketball stars this week.
Coaches from the league named senior Shayna Rodriguez to the NEAC women’s First Team All-Conference. During the 2018-19 season, she became Abington's all-time leading scorer with 1,943 career points as of Feb. 21.
Rodriguez averaged 20 points per game throughout the season. Against Keuka College, she scored 40 points, tying her personal record and Abington's all-time record for points in a single game. During her 930 minutes of play this season, the senior guard led the team in points (499), and 3-point percentage (.336 percent). She is second in steals with 50 and third in assists with 43.
Coaches from the league also singled out Abington sophomore Pernell Ghee, naming him to the NEAC men’s Second Team All-Conference.
Ghee averaged 15.4 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per contest, which put him among the top two on the team. He scored a career-high 29 points in an upset win over Lancaster Bible College and led the team to its second consecutive NEAC Tournament appearance.
