Penn State Abington Parking Policies and Regulations
Student Parking Permits
- Permits must be renewed each academic year.
- Permits need to be obtained within the first 2 weeks of the start of a semester. Tickets will be issued after that time period. See Parking Violation Fines page.
- Parking on campus is enforced through License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology. This system enables efficient monitoring and enforcement of parking regulations based on vehicle license plate data.
- All Credentialed Parkers: Vehicles must be parked so that the license plate is clearly visible from the drive aisle to ensure compliance with parking regulations.
- Permit Holders:
- a. Permit holders are permitted to park only vehicles whose license plates are registered with their parking permit.
- b. It is each permit holder’s responsibility to ensure their license plate information is accurate and kept up to date using the online parking portal.
- c. Failure to keep license plate information updated may result in ticketing and/or towing at the expense of the registered vehicle owner.
- d. Parking permits are issued to employees and students at the University and are not transferable to other individuals for their use.
- e. Permit holders may not have more than one vehicle assigned to a permit on campus at any time unless the additional vehicle has an additional parking credential (permit, paid hourly parking, etc.).
- All parking regulations remain in effect, regardless of whether classes are in session. Vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense.
- Students are permitted to use any valid student parking spaces with the exception of “restricted” areas. Students are NOT permitted, at any time, to park in restricted areas which include: faculty/staff spaces, visitors’ spaces, maintenance only, no parking areas and any other reserved parking spaces. Any use of restricted, unauthorized parking areas will be subject to a fine.
- Faculty/staff are permitted to use any valid faculty/staff parking spaces with the exception of “restricted” areas. Faculty/staff are NOT permitted, at any time, to park in restricted areas which include: student spaces, visitors’ spaces, no parking areas and any other reserved parking spaces. Any use of restricted, unauthorized parking areas will be subject to a fine.

All vehicle accidents on campus must be reported immediately to University Police at 215-881-7575 or 9-1-1 Police officers will respond and complete a police accident report if necessary.
Operating or parking vehicles on grass areas or walkways designed for pedestrian use is not permitted.
Unless specifically lined for parking, the area should be considered a "Fire Lane" or "No Parking Zone" (for example, along the side of any road, or driveway on campus). Faculty Staff lots are lined in yellow and student lots are lined in white. Select Parking on campus map.
The University reserves the right to tow any illegally parked vehicle at the owner's expense.
Registered students are never considered "visitors" and will be ticketed if parked in a designated "Visitors Parking" area.
