Inclusive Excellence Faculty-Focused

Fall 2023 Professional Development Series- Race and Abington
During the Fall 2023 semester, the Office of Inclusive Excellence will offer a 3-part professional development series focused on dismantling racism. The purpose of this series is to provide a space for faculty and staff to think critically and reflexively about question of race as they are enacted in our scholarship, in our classrooms, and across every facet of our campus. The goal is to use these initial sessions to think about the intersections of race and disability, and to consider how we might, as a campus community, disrupt and dismantle racist norms and actions as they happen on campus. As always, the Office of Inclusive Excellence honors a diversity of voice and perspective. Therefore, facilitators of these sessions will include scholars from inside and outside of the Penn State system, faculty participating in a DEIB advisory committee focused on race, students, and community members whose interests intersect with this important topic.

Spring 2023 Professional Development Series- Disabilities and Abington
During the Spring 2023 semester, DEIB will offer a 3-part professional development series focused on dismantling ableism. The purpose of this series is to think with faculty and staff about how ableism exists across sociopolitical and cultural contexts. Participants will then use the dialogues that emerge from these conversations to consider how the PSU Abington community might deconstruct ableist norms and values to help make our campus a more accessible and welcoming place for all people. As always, DEIB honors a diversity of voice and perspective. Therefore, facilitators of these sessions will include the campus Disabilities Coordinator, faculty participating in a DEIB advisory committee focused on accessibly, students with disabilities, and community members whose interests intersect with this important topic.
