Penn State Abington's annual outdoor jazz concert set for May 19

Warm breezes, cool water ice and toe-tapping music set the tone for “An Evening Under the Stars with the Eric Mintel Jazz Quartet” at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 19 at Penn State Abington.

The Abington Junior High School competitive student band, A-Town Jazz, will kick off the evening. Penn State and Blue Band alum David Wetherill will lead the 40-member strong group of budding young musicians.

At 7 p.m., the acclaimed Eric Mintel Jazz Quartet returns to the stage at Penn State Abington’s outdoor amphitheater. The band features Eric Mintel on piano; Nelson Hill on alto sax, flute and soprano sax; Dave Antonow on electric bass; and Dave Mohn on drums.

Audience members should bring chairs, blankets and picnic baskets, and Penn State Abington will provide the water ice. Admission is free. In the event of rain, the concert will take place at Lubert Commons in the Lares Building. Easy parking is available.
