ENGL 83S is a first-year seminar designed to familiarize students with the American university environment, from managing time to navigating campus resources. In addition to receiving class visits from campus partners and support from peer mentors, students also complete academic projects that encourage writing and speaking practice. These assignments have included analysis of students’ emails to a professor and a podcast where they interview an upperclassman.
ENGL 015 is a first-year writing course where you create three major assignments in different genres and styles, ranging from traditional written reports to more visual posters. Smaller assignments throughout the semester help you manage your time and complete the major assignments in stages.
ENGL 005 is a writing tutorial course where you meet 1-on-1 with a writing instructor to help you work on your ENGL 015 assignments. This class is taken during the same semester as ENGL 015.
