Two Penn State Abington employees bought plane tickets and headed to Colorado earlier this month. But instead of hiking in the Rockies or exploring national parks, Michael Fry and Anthony Casselli spent their vacation shoveling mud from homes and businesses devastated by last month's thousand-year flood.
The Abington volleyball team raised money for the Dig Pink Side-Out Foundation and participated in the Dig Pink Quad to support people living with breast cancer.
Catherine Casselli and sister Samantha, a junior education major at University Park, and the rest of their family helped with recovery efforts in Staten Island, N.Y., in the wake of Superstorm Sandy. Samantha's father works at Abington and her brother, Anthony, also attends University Park.
