The Orca, the fishing boat from the film "Jaws;" the Poseidon from "The Poseidon Adventure;" and the Red October from "The Hunt for Red October" sail across the duck pond at Penn State Abington.
Penn State Abington students majoring in Elementary and Early Childhood Education raised the money to purchase a Buddy Bench at Overlook Elementary School in Abington Township.
Penn State Abington Education majors raised the money to purchase a bench at a local elementary school that encourages children to seek out those in need of a friend. The project is one of many that helps shape the Abington students into teachers who help form well-rounded children.
Penn State Abington baseball player Austin Mikula noticed an older woman struggling to make her way to the baseball field last week. He dropped his gear, helped her to her seat, and then headed into the dugout. A parent referred to Austin as a class act. According to Deb Solfaro, Director of Athletics, Intramurals, and Recreation at Abington, “Austin works hard. He is strong willed, and he has grown tremendously ... this year. We are proud of him.”
