Mental Health Resources

  • JED and NAMI: Organizations focused on protecting your mental health and preventing suicide
  • Safe2Say: The Attorney Generals safe2say program operates 24/7 and can be reached at 1-844-723-2729 or at www.safe2sayprogram.org 
  • Self Harm Hotline:1-800-DONT CUT (366-8288)
  • Active Minds: The nation's premier nonprofit organization supporting mental health awareness and education for students
  • Hope for Hallie: Hope for Hallie is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation committed to promoting mental health awareness through sport.

Eating Disorders Resources

  • National Crisis Line for Anorexia and Bulimia: Eating disorder helplines are staffed by professionals who are knowledgeable about eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder. Even someone who is not ready to seek treatment or is unsure if they have an eating disorder can benefit from calling an eating disorder crisis hotline. The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders. NEDA supports individuals and families affected by eating disorders, and serves as a catalyst for prevention, cures and access to quality care.
  • Renfrew Center: A safe and healing community that provides the skills to support recovery from anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating as well as the full range of eating disorders.  
  • Evolve Counseling Services: Evolve Counseling Services provides counseling services to individuals looking to reduce and manage symptoms of eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Grief and Bereavement Resources

  • The Center for Loss and Bereavement provides specialized treatment for those impacted by grief. 

Help for Students of Color

  • Black Brain Campaign: The Black Brain Campaign is geared to help the community learn more about mental health and to advocate to ensure treatment is culturally informed. To reduce the stigma and improve the mental health in the community by providing education, resources, and advocacy.
  • The Ladipo Group: The Ladipo Group is a Black-owned company dedicated to the emotional wellness of Black and African-American people and communities.
  • Radical Therapy Center: Radical Therapy Center provides trauma informed, client-centered services and products that have an intentional anti-oppression lens. Located in West Philadelphia. 
  • Melanin & Mental Health: Find clinicians that are culturally competent and dedicated to helping minority communities using this directory.
  • NQTTCN: The National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network (NQTTCN) is a healing justice organization committed to transforming mental health for queer and trans people of color (QTPoC). They work at the intersection of movements for social justice and the field of mental health to integrate healing justice into both of these spaces.

Help for International Students

  • Find a Helpline: Search for international help lines for suicide prevention and other emotional, social, and medical support.
  • International Suicide Hotlines: Suicide.org provides suicide hotlines from 60+ countries and regions among other resources.
  • Check Point: Find oversea local resources and hotlines.
  • Find Self: Largest free 24/7 mental health text line on Wechat for Chinese speaking population.

Help for Interpersonal Violence

  • National Domestic Violence Hotline: The National Domestic Violence Hotline can help victims and survivors of domestic violence. (1-800-799-7233)
  • Family Violence Helpline: (1-800-996-6228)
  • 1in6: 1in6 is a national organization dedicated to helping men who have had abusive sexual experiences in their childhood live healthier, happier lives.
  • RAINN: Nationally, RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network) provides information and a 24-hour hotline. ( 1-800-656-HOPE)
  • PSU Victim & Survivor Support & Advocacy: If you or someone you know has experienced sexual assault, sexual harrassment, dating or relationship violence, stalking or sexual exploitation, the University is committed to giving you the help and support you deserve. This resource is focused primarily on dating, domestic, or relationship violence concerns given our current climate.
  • Victim Services Center: Montgomery Victim Services Center is the only non-profit, comprehensive crime-victim agency serving Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. They provide confidential services at no cost to survivors of crime including sexual violence and their loved ones.

Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Resources

  • SAMHSA Find Treatment: Millions of Americans have mental and substance use disorders. FindTreatment.gov, the confidential and anonymous resource for persons seeking treatment. 800-662-HELP (4357)
  • Alcohol Education and Information: We know sometimes your plans might involve alcohol. If so, we encourage you to follow safer drinking strategies, understand the law, and learn how to actively step into situations to help keep others safe.  
  • National Institue on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism
  • Rethinking Drinking: Alcohol and Your Health: For anyone who drinks, this site offers valuable, research-based information. Let's take a look at your drinking patterns and how they may affect your health. Rethinking Drinking can help you. 
  • Alcohol and Public Health: Frequently asked questions about alcohol. 
  • Substance Use Education and Information: 

    Empowering you to be more informed when making decisions about your physical health, mental health, and overall wellness.

  • Virtual 12-Step: In The Rooms is a free online recovery tool that offers 130 weekly online meetings for those recovering from addiction and related issues. We embrace multiple pathways to recovery, including all 12 Step, Non-12 Step, Wellness and Mental Health modalities.
  • National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency Hope Line: 

    A drug and alcohol abuse hotline aims to help individuals who are addicted to drugs or alcohol and provide them with information related to addiction and treatment. These hotlines are confidential, free, and exist to help those suffering from addiction even if they feel hopeless about recovery.

LGBTQ+ Resources

  • TransLifeline: Trans Lifeline provides peer support for the transgender community. (877-565-8860)
  • The Trevor Project: The leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.
  • LGBT hotline: Phone, chat, email support, resources, and help for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. (1-888-843-4564)

Help For Veterans

  • Veterans Crisis Line: If you're a Veteran in crisis or concerned about one, there are caring, qualified VA responders standing by to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Veterans Crisis Line is a free, anonymous, confidential resource that is available to anyone, even if you are not registered with VA or enrolled in VA health care. Call 1-800-273-8255 or text 838255

Outpatient Community Resources

  • Aldersgate: A non-profit social services agency that offers counseling for children, teens, adults, and families and provides services for organizations such as schools, courts, child welfare agencies, police departments, and adult and juvenile probation. (215-657-4545)
  • Growth Opportunity Center: A comprehensive mental health provider offering psychotherapy, psychiatric, group, psycho-educational, and specialized programs and services. Located in Southampton, PA. (215-947-8654)
  • Creative Healing: Creative Healing is a Teen Support Center with 3 locations in the Greater Philadelphia area: Flourtown, King of Prussia and Philadelphia. They offer individual and group therapy for teen and young adult self-expression, support and skill-building with a focus on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Informed practices and LGBTQ-affirming care.
  • Lifestance Health: A Philadelphia-based mental health practice offering counseling, psychiatry, nutrition, and coaching services for individuals, couples, and families. 
  • Central Behavioral Health: A non-profit, charitable, multi-service behavioral health facility offering a full spectrum of behavioral health services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.  Accepts Medicaid and uninsured. Located in Willow Grove, PA. (215-828-2220)
  • Victim Service Center: A non-profit organization located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania that provides free and confidential comprehensive support services to crime victims, their families and significant others.
  • Evolve Counseling Services: Evolve Counseling Services provides counseling services to individuals looking to reduce and manage symptoms of eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Inpatient Resources

Young Adult Program provides acute inpatient behavioral health treatment programs for young adults ages 18 to 26. The programs focus on key stressors that impact young adults, provides individualized treatment, and work with each person to develop proper support, skills, and education so they can thrive in everyday life. Mental Health Care Services for the LGBTQ Community and Behavioral Health Services for co-occurring disorders are also available.

Some videos serve to inform, validate, and support, while others offer the opportunity for a basic introduction to strategies for coping with specific concerns.
