Testing Emergency Notifications

Penn State Abington tested its PSU Alert emergency notification system this afternoon as part of a regular review of emergency protocols.

A group of Abington staff members worked through a fictional crisis as part of training related to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (the Clery Act). The Clery Act is a consumer protection law that aims to provide transparency around campus crime policy and statistics.

Timely warnings and emergency notifications, like the one sent out today, are meant to inform the campus community upon confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation occurring on the campus that involves an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees.
