The Breastfeeding Support Program at Penn State offers a variety of services to University employees, students and spouses/domestic partners of employees and students.
Breastfeeding provides a wide range of benefits for children and their families. Returning to work or class is often cited as a primary obstacle to breastfeeding. When mothers are provided with essential services to support breastfeeding and pumping, they can achieve their goals.
A new lactation station is now open at Penn State Schuylkill in the Health and Wellness Building, Room 210B, and includes a hospital grade pump. For more information, contact Cecelia Boran at [email protected] or 570-385-6248.
The BSP continues to offer the following other services at little or no cost:
-- Lactation stations at University Park, Abington, Harrisburg, Fayette and Worthington Scranton. Most stations are equipped with hospital grade pumps.
-- Basics of Breastfeeding and Working and Breastfeeding classes at University Park. Register for classes online through emPOWER at https://app3.ohr.psu.edu/emPower/frm_login.cfm.
-- Certified Lactation Counselor available for help with any breastfeeding or pumping problems. Phone/email help available across the commonwealth; in-person consultation available in the State College and Altoona areas.
