To infinity and beyond: Pioneering physicist to speak at Abington

Martin Bojowald, physics professor and author, will transport his audience back to the first moment of the universe -- even before the Big Bang -- during a visit to Penn State Abington next week.

Bojowald’s book “Once Before Time: A Whole Story of the Universe” has been hailed as a groundbreaking yet controversial work. He will appear on Thursday, March 15, at Common Break in Room 112 Woodland Building. A discussion will follow immediately afterward in the library.

Bojowald, who serves as a Penn State faculty member at University Park, is also a member of the Penn State Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos. He spent several years at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics, one of Germany’s leading research organizations. He studies loop quantum gravity and physical cosmology and is credited with establishing the subfield of loop quantum cosmology.

The lecture is presented by the Academic Environment Committee and the Student Activity Fee. For more information on lectures at Abington, go to www.abington.psu.edu/psasite/cs/
