Research Interests
Dr. Sims' research focuses on Black women's lived experiences with technology and innovation. She examines the historical and theoretical relationship between Black women and technologies that impact their labor. Central to this research is her engagement with Black feminist thought, theories of embodiment, and theories of knowledge production.
She has published on the archiving of digital material as well as how digital humanities can help academic journals understand their review and submission processes' effect on the diversity of their authorship and readership. Her teaching interests include Black women's history, Black feminist thought, and African American Studies more broadly
