4+1 Pathway Program in Healthcare Administration

The 4+1 Pathway Program in Healthcare Administration offers eligible Penn State Abington students majoring in Business (all options), Health Humanities, Psychological and Social Sciences, and Rehabilitation and Human Services the opportunity to complete their bachelor’s degree at Abington while earning credits toward a master’s in Healthcare Administration from Delaware Valley University (DelVal) in Doylestown.

With its online format, the program offers a focused and affordable path toward in-demand healthcare careers. Students may take up to nine credits of coursework at DelVal during their final year at Abington at no additional charge. They can then complete their master’s degree in healthcare administration at DelVal within three years at its prevailing tuition.

Why Earn a Master’s in Healthcare Administration?

Students can take the skills they developed as undergraduates in business and health-related fields at Abington and combine them with coursework in the 4+1 program to become collaborative, adaptable, and strategic healthcare administrators.

The interdisciplinary master’s courses highlight practice and operations in the administrative and clinical arenas to inform best practices and inspire thoughtful and relevant change. Instructors include executives and leaders in the healthcare industry who share their expertise through real-world cases and projects that align with the skills that employers are seeking.

Information, How to Apply, and Eligibility Criteria

Penn State Abington students may begin the process by completing the request for information form linked above. Applications for pre-admission to the 4+1 pathway will be accepted during the second semester of their sophomore year through the first semester of their senior year.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least a second-semester junior at Abington (60-75 credits) through the second semester of their senior year (90-120 credits).
  • Minimum of 3.0 cumulative grade point average
  • Must be declared in one of these Abington majors: Business (all options), Health Humanities, Psychological and Social Sciences (PSS), or Rehabilitation and Human Services (RHS).

Application Deadlines

  • November 1 for the spring semester
  • March 1 for the summer semester
  • July 1 for the fall semester

How the 4+1 Pathway Program Works

If conditionally accepted by DelVal, Abington students may take up to nine credits of coursework at DelVal toward the master’s in Healthcare Administration during their final year at Abington at no additional charge.

During the fall or spring semester, the Abington pathway student will be restricted to no more than ONE graduate course (3 credits) per semester. The Abington student may take up to TWO graduate courses (6 credits) in the summer.

Students may take as long as three years to complete the graduate curriculum at DelVal.
