Philadelphia area campuses on heightened alert

Penn State, along with other universities that have a presence in the Philadelphia region, has learned from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that there have been vague threats on social media of violence at "a Philadelphia area University." The FBI indicated that similarly vague threats have been made on social media across the country in the last several days.

A tribute to slain librarian during Banned Books Week

Penn State Abington's Alexia Hudson-Ward and her American Library Association (ALA) colleagues marked Banned Books Week by sharing excerpts from controversial titles. Hudson-Ward chose a passage from "The Autobiography of Malcolm X," dedicating it to ALA member Cynthia Hurd. Hurd was among nine people murdered inside a Charleston, S.C., church this summer.
