Peggy Burns is the publisher of Drawn and Quarterly Press in Montreal. Over the course of several decades, Drawn & Quarterly has grown from a single-issue magazine to an internationally renowned publisher of the world's best cartoonists. D+Q has published many North American luminaries of the medium including Lynda Barry, Chris Ware, and Kate Beaton, as well as international authors including Guy Delisle (France); Tom Gauld (UK); Yoshihiro Tatsumi (Japan); and many more from across the globe. The company's dedication to high production values, editorial integrity, and artistic autonomy has led to it being described by Time as “the most elegant comics publisher in North America.” Peggy will talk about the D+Q publishing philosophy and showcase several of the artists she publishes. After her presentation, she will conduct critiques for students in the Art Major creating graphic novels through the Transmedia Narratives initiative.
