The Unorthodorx Poetry Collective, a Penn State Abington student group, gathered with the campus community last week to honor Srijoni "Chini" Mitra, a student who was passionate about the arts and sadly passed away last year. The group hosted "Lights in the Darkness: Connections, Creations, the Arts and Chini's Legacy" and then placed flowers on her memorial bench by the duck pond.
Ellen Knodt, professor emerita of English at Penn State Abington, retired four years ago, but she maintains an active research agenda and mentors students.
Penn State Abington students have access to the campus LaunchBox, which provides entrepreneurs from the campus and local communities with support, resources and facilities to help them build sustainable and scalable businesses. The facilities include a podcast recording studio.
American culinary historian, lawyer and public policy adviser Adrian Miller will offer an engaging and educational journey through the lives of African Americans who have served as cooks for U.S. presidents, "Black Chefs in the White House," at 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, via Zoom and also in-person at the Paul Robeson Cultural Center Library in the HUB. Penn State Abington students attended the 15th annual Inclusive Leadership Conference at Temple University last week. The trainings, conversations, and workshops focused on authenticity, belonging, leadership, and diversity. Jose Garcia Cintora, assistant director of Residence Life, and MaryClare Rae, coordinator of Student Involvement and Leadership, accompanied the students to the Campus Philly-sponsored event. The Abington student leaders are active in Residence Life, Student Engagement and Leadership (SEAL), Global Programs, Career and Professional Development, and the Student Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (SODEI).
