Penn State physicists use exotic stars to tune into hum from cosmic symphony

An international team of astrophysicists, including researchers from Penn State Abington, have used large radio telescopes to observe a collection of "cosmic clocks" in our galaxy to find evidence for gravitational waves that oscillate with periods of years to decades, according to a set of papers published today in the Astrophysical Journal Letters.

Two teams from Penn State Abington joined a national coalition of more than 55 colleges and universities at the 2023 Summer Institute for Equity in the Academic Experience. The three-day series of workshops, panels and provocations was aimed at improving equitable access and outcomes for low-income, first-generation, and students of color at the institutions.
