Michael Lavetsky is the program chair for the Rehabilitation and Human Services major and Chemical Dependency Prevention and Counseling Certificate program. In addition to his teaching and program oversight, he coordinates the peer counseling program on campus.

Michael is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a certified secondary school counselor in Pennsylvania and a National Certified Counselor. He has been working with youthful offenders and victims since 2002 while specializing in forensic assessment and treatment of individuals with a variety of co-occurring mental health and substance-related disorders. He was also appointed by the governor of Pennsylvania to the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board and completes Sexually Violent Predator assessments while providing expert witness testimony.

Daniel is deeply involved in the greater Abington community. He is currently on the board of trustees the Abington Township Public Library, is a board member for the Abington Community Taskforce and Citizens and Police Together, and works with the Willow Grove NAACP, and the Montgomery County Taskforce on Suicide Prevention. The governor appointed him to the Pennsylvania Long Term Care Council in 2024. He was on the Abington School Board for 12 years. He is also a writer, cartoonist and children's book author/illustrator. He attended Penn State Abington.
