Open doors to a career in the sciences.

Earn a bachelor's degree of Science without leaving the Philadelphia region. The Science major helps students prepare for a wide variety of careers, from science-specific vocations to business and law, which increasingly demand knowledge of the sciences. Students may also use the major as preparation for graduate and professional study, including medical school.

At Penn State Abington, you can earn a B.S. in Science with either a life science, or general option. The large number of elective credits allow you the opportunity to include course sequences in nonscience areas such as education, business, foreign language, technical writing, or allied health.

You will benefit from being a part of one of the largest research institutions, as it provides many opportunities for undergraduate research by working closely with award-winning senior faculty in areas such as radioastronomy, cancer research, marine invertebrate ecology and behavior, microbiology, neurophysiology, developmental biology, environmental studies, and pharmacology. You will also have the opportunity to gain valuable experience through internships: some of our students have found internships with Abington Hospital, and New Jersey Aquarium.

Graduates frequently choose to pursue a professional education in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or graduate research. Penn State Abington students have the opportunity to complete their bachelor's and master's degrees in biotechnology, physical or occupational therapy, or clinical health psychology in a total of five years, through our partner schools. Graduates have also found career opportunities in fields of the: pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry, health care industries, ecological or zoological facilities.

Graduate from Penn State Abington or transition to an upper-division location like University Park after two years to complete your degree.
