Apply the art of communication to the world of business.

Today's corporate communicators are more than just writers; they are highly skilled professionals in the arts of planning, problem solving, and persuading, with a sharp understanding of their audiences' needs, tastes, and interests. They know how to craft the right message and send it to the right audience at the right time.

This degree features cross-disciplinary coursework in business, information systems, and human behavior, along with oral, written, and verbal communication skills. The program offers a broad foundation in business principles that can help graduates become effective communicators in a professional setting. Courses in ethics and psychology are as much a part of this unique program as writing and speaking skills. A field experience is also required. Our Career Development Office has helped students find internships with Comcast Cable, Comcast SportsNet, and Abington Memorial Hospital.

Once enrolled, you will work closely with professional and faculty advisers who will guide you in creating an academic plan. Students may wish to choose a complementary minor in Business, English, Psychology, or Sociology.

A Corporate Communication degree can lead to a career in for-profit businesses or in non-profit areas, such as charitable, political, or educational organizations. Some career fields include: public relations, media relations, human resources, and training and development. Some students also may choose to go on to graduate school.

Graduate from Penn State Abington or transition to an upper-division location like University Park after two years to complete degree.
