Educational Opportunity Program

Penn State Abington's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is an academic retention program that is rooted in the academic success of our students. Eligibility for the EOP is determined at the time of admissions and is only for Pennsylvania residents.

EOP candidates are students who demonstrate the potential to be successful college students, but who may require specialized and structured academic support. Students will have a campus-wide support system as well as a specialized support system within the EOP office.

It is the goal of this learning community to improve the quality of the student’s academic careers and enhance the graduation of its members. Students are the at the center of this program and all members, students, faculty, and staff will work collaboratively to ensure personal and academic success.

John Nguyen

EOP is an important program that is designed to help you succeed. My focus will be to help guide you in any way possible to be successful in your academic journey. Academics will be our first priority, but the social aspect of college is just as important. There will be educational, cultural, and social programs specifically for you as an EOP student, all of which will help you feel connected to one another as well as connected to the campus. Remember, what you put into your college journey is what you will ultimately get out of it!
