Penn State Abington to Host Straight Talk About Teen Behaviors Featuring Prominent Author Dr. Michael J. Bradley

Penn State Abington will host the 3rd Annual Straight Talk About Teen Behaviors event, sponsored by the Montgomery County Teen Parent Task Force on Monday, March 13, 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. in Room 9 of the Sutherland Building , 1600 Woodland Road , Abington.

A panel of experts will address a variety of issues ranging from teenage behavior to teen safety on the Internet. The featured speaker is Dr. Michael Bradley, Ed.D. psychologist, renowned speaker and author of award-winning books including “Yes, Your Teen Is Crazy” and “Yes, Your Parents Are Crazy.” Montgomery County Detective Ray Kuter will address Internet Safety, and Lauren Cohn, weekend anchor for NBC 10, will moderate the event.

Straight Talk begins at 6:30 p.m. with registration and resource tables, followed by a panel presentation from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Questions and answer will continue until 9:00 p.m.

Dr. Michael J. Bradley is a licensed psychologist specializing in working with adolescents and their families. A native of Philadelphia , he earned his doctorate from Temple University . Over his 30-year career, the stories of courage and hope Dr. Bradley encountered became the basis for two highly-acclaimed books. “Yes, Your Teen Is Crazy! – Loving Your Kid Without Losing Your Mind,” and its companion “Yes, Your Parents Are Crazy! A Teen Survival Guide” garnered five awards each, being recognized by such prestigious parenting groups as Parents' Choice and the National Parenting Center.

Prior to Lauren Cohn's arrival at NBC 10 in 2004, she was a mainstay in Chicago and as a morning anchor and reporter. While at NBC 10, Cohn traveled to Greece to report live local and national coverage of the Summer Olympic Games in Athens . She was also nominated for a 2005 Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award for Best News Anchor.

The Teen Parent Task Force was established in 1979 through the efforts of private, non-profit agencies, public agencies and schools. The mission of the Teen Parent Task Force is to advocate for the needs and services of pregnant and parenting teens, to work toward the reduction of teen pregnancy and to empower teens to make healthy decisions.
