The Montgomery County Workforce Investment Board proudly announced its partnership with Penn State Abington to open its newest PA CareerLink Access Point on their campus. A small ceremony was held in the Lares Building on campus to mark the event.

The PA CareerLink Access Point at Penn State Abington will help job seekers find opportunities through the computer system and on-location workshops. A coordinator at the Access Point can answer questions about services offered at the Penn State location, or through the full-service PA CareerLink center in Norristown.

Pennsylvania CareerLink centers offer job seekers and employers information on job search assistance, education information and recruiting services. Accessible via the Internet at www.pacareerlink.state.pa.us, the PA CareerLink and its Access Points can help both the resident in need of a job and the local business seeking workers.

“The value of PA CareerLinks is limited unless we can reach out to those people in all of our communities who need our help,” said Harvey Portner, Chairman, Workforce Investment Board of Montgomery County, and Partner, Professional Healthcare Institute. “Building relationships with local organizations and universities like Penn State to deliver services through Access Points helps us achieve that goal. Many of our eastern Montgomery County residents will now be able to update their skills and gain valuable employment information that is necessary to advance in today's economy.”

“The addition of a PA CareerLink Access Point to our campus complements the work we do everyday,” said Karen Wiley Sandler, Chancellor of Penn State Abington. “Our goal is to serve as an educational, cultural, and economic resource to our region and to be sure that all who need our services have the opportunity to benefit from them.”
