Penn State Abington Students Go “Canning” this Weekend – November 11-13
Have you ever seen someone standing on a sidewalk with a sign that says “HELP KIDS WITH CANCER”? That person holding the sign and can is a Penn State student who is “canning.” Canister Solicitation, otherwise known as “canning”, has been one of the most profitable forms of fundraising for the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON) throughout its history. Over a period of four predetermined weekends, students travel all over the northeastern United States to “can”.

Penn State Abington students will be “canning” this weekend,
November 11-13, at the following locations:

Clemens in Abington - 1411 Old York Road , Abington

Shop'n'Bag in Dresher - 1650 Limekiln Pike, Dresher

The “canning” fundraising effort is part of the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON™). THON is a year round fundraising event benefiting The Four Diamonds Fund, Conquering Childhood Cancer, at the Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey , PA. The year culminates in a no-sitting, no-sleeping, 48-hour dance marathon held every February. Over the past 30 years, the students of THON have raised over $30 million and have helped thousands of children and families fight pediatric cancer.
