The Vagina Monologues, a feisty, funny and touching piece of theater that chronicles intimacy, vulnerability and sexual self-discovery from the female perspective, had a successful three-night run raising more that $1,500 to combat violence against women.
The play, performed by an ensemble of students, faculty and staff, was presented in conjunction with “V-Day,” February 14, during which many colleges and other organizations perform the play to raise awareness and financially support causes that help stop violence against women. Thanks to all for your support the week of January 28 during Lion Lockdown - especially to the students that ran and participated in the week without cell phones, iPods, TVs or any other technology.
The students reached their goal today of $750 and will be able to send ten students to school in a third world country. The participants learned a lot this week about working with each other and giving back. The lucky winner was James. In close second, Felix; third place was taken by Chris.
We are very proud of all the students who worked to make it a success. Please send your congratulations to all nine students in the Lockdown - Donald, James, Jessica, Chris, Jared, Alex, Agnes, Felix and Ty.
