Full Faculty Senate and Council Meeting Dates
The primary function of the faculty Senate is as an advisory and consultative body to the administration on a wide variety of matters affecting the welfare of the college community. These include academic, computing, library, utilization of resources, admissions, physical plant and other policy matters and issues. The Senate also serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas among its members in forensic sessions.
Four Senate standing committees conduct business relating to academic development and support, faculty affairs, student affairs and undergraduate education. Three other standing committees are elected from the faculty as a whole. Their duties include instructional evaluation for faculty who are in the promotion and tenure process, promotion and tenure review for those in the HR-23 process ( P & T), and selection of award recipients from among the faculty for several established awards As needed, the Senate Council can establish ad hoc committees for a specific purpose over a one year period. These ad hoc committees can be re-constituted with Senate approval at the beginning of the academic year.
