International Education Week

Take part in a world of opportunities! Penn State Abington is celebrating International Education Week on campus Nov 9 - 13, 2009. IEW is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education highlighting the benefits of international education and exchange. IEW is celebrated across the United States and in more than 100 countries.

Monday, Nov 9, Passport Day
11am - 2pm, Dean's Dining Room, Lares Building
The Philadelphia Passport Agency invites all students, faculty, staff and family members to submit an application for a U.S. passport on campus. No appointment is needed.

Wednesday, Nov 11, International Photo Contest Winner Reception
Common Break, Woodland Library Lower Level
The Chancellor will host a reception this year to showcase the winning photos of the Abington International Photo Contest 2009. Come and see the winning photos and hear the photographers describe how they captured India, England and Italy on film.

Thursday, Nov 12, International Night Revival!
6-9pm, Lares Building
The tradition of hosting an International Night on our campus is being revived by student organizations. We will celebrate and showcase the culture, history, traditions and cuisine of our students. All are welcome! Come and taste international food, watch traditional dance and listen to cultural presentations all arranged by our students groups: SASA, BSU, LSO and MSA.

Friday, Nov 13, International Film Night - "Tell No One"
7:30pm, 112 Woodland Building
Dr. Moylan Mills invites you to join us for an evening of French! In this intriguing French thriller, a wife disappears, apparently murdered. Her husband is accused of her death, but is he the culprit? Light refreshments served. Admission free to all faculty, staff and students with a PSU ID. Admission for guests is $5, payable at the door.

Dr. Dolores Rafter Arevalo heads the Office of International Affairs (OIA). The Office of International Affairs is charged with the mission to provide exemplary service and support to the following Abington College populations: domestic students who plan to study abroad, international students & scholars who join the academic community and faculty members who wish to engage in international teaching, research and exchange.

International Travel

The office supports the campus’ commitment to internationalization as stated in the five major goals of the Strategic Plan for Internationalization. OIA focuses on the expansion and diversification of international opportunities for our community which fosters the development of global citizenry at all levels of engagement.
