Hof University students and faculty visit Fall 2010
The Division of Social Sciences and the Office of International Affairs hosted a group of International Management students and faculty members from Hof University of Applied Sciences in Hof, Germany this past November, 2010.

The 12 students and 3 faculty members traveled to Abington to complete a joint Business Simulation Course with Ms. Janine Black’s Management 461 W class. German-American teams were formed on Penn State Abington’s campus and competed in a two day business simulation course. Along with the competition, the students attended classes, made local company visits to Siemens and QVC, and took in the sites of historical Philadelphia.

The Mortenson Center for International Library Programs has extended an invitation to Paula Smith to visit Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda to conduct a 3-day workshop on library outreach. The workshop will include developing an outreach plan to improve the library's connection with the campus and external communities. The Mortenson Center for International Library Programs, the only one of its kind in the world, was established in 1991. It is a professional, non-degree program that seeks to strengthen international ties among libraries and librarians, regardless of geographic location or access to technology. Paula will travel to Uganda May 15 - 24, 2010.

International Student Group Visit to Penn State Abington, March 2010
The Office of International Affairs and the Division of Social Sciences were pleased to host 16 students and 2 faculty members from the Bucks New University, Buckinghamshire, England from March 27, to April 4, 2010. The evenly distributed Sports Management and Criminal Justice students participated in an Academic Seminar on our campus conducted by Penn State faculty, staff, and visiting guest lecturers.
Academic field trips included the Criminal Justice Center downtown, the Abington Police Department, NMS Forensic Labs in Willow Grove and The Eastern State Penitentiary.
Prior to their arrival, the BNU students were matched with Penn State Abington buddies who were the BNU students’ cultural connection to student life and co-curricular activities at Abington. The group explored Philadelphia and New York City, and went to a New Jersey Nets game as well as a Phillies game.
