The Advising Center helps students identify and achieve academic goals, promotes intellectual discovery, helps students become self-directed learners and decision-makers, and encourages them to take advantage of both in- and out-of class educational opportunities. Five professional advisors report to Tom Smith, the Director, who reports to the Associate Dean.
Advisers assume a significant educational role by encouraging their advisees to become engaged in their education, to meet their educational goals, and to develop the habit of learning. Faculty and professional advisers in the Abington Advising Center serve as academic advisers.
Students should routinely contact advisers each semester and assume final responsibility for course scheduling, program planning, and the successful completion of graduation requirements.
