Comments:
Despite advancements in technology, individuals must know the basics of effective writing and reading comprehension if they hope to succeed economically and personally.
Philosophy Statement:
Effective writing and reading techniques are among the most important skills
students can acquire as part of their university education. They are
vitally important for success in virtually all aspects of their academic,
professional, and personal activities. Learning to express one's ideas
clearly and concisely and to understand the viewpoints, ideas and
feelings of others are keys to functioning effectively in an increasingly
complex society. English courses provide students with opportunities to
develop new abilities in these areas, to hone the abilities they already
possess, and to interact with people, times, and places they can encounter
only through literature.
