The Continuum
By: A.J. Kamateros

The distant stars illuminate the dark
of space. How Heaven bridges gap with light
across the span of time and place. The spark
of Dawn enlightens the unknowing Night.
The sky above in constant motion moves
inertia’s plight. Inside the spiral mass
a billion souls now stir about. Behooves
the Gods to contemplate on Man’s impasse.
Creation swirls from out concentric spheres
by milky ways, and Cronos sweeps his scythe
to measure out our mortal days. All fears
of Death undone for God made Man a myth.
Above the sparking skies the Heavens blessed
each Man with endless life, and yet,star-crossed.

Gratified
By: Layla Abbasi

We walked through an imperial marble path,
We talked of times from now and of the past,
We saw the world fall right in our own hands,
We sang until our tears washed the blood-stained land.
All in all…all in all…I am glad.
We searched beyond and far beneath the mind,
We served as people worthy of our time,
We followed courageously the footsteps of our intellect,
We swallowed the stuttering words, which sought to neglect.
All in all…all in all…I am glad.
We heard the sound many labeled as unknown,
We lured the eye of beauty, although it seemed condoned,
We locked away our precious dreams, in a single box for crafts,
We continued through a marble path lead by oblique shafts.
All in all…all in all…I am glad.

The magazine is published during the spring semester each year.
