College Credit Courses for High School Students

Kids CollegePenn State University summer courses for college credit are available to academically qualified and motivated rising high school juniors and seniors at Penn State Abington. College credits earned while in high school provide students an opportunity to pursue course work during the summer and get a jump on their college education.

The following Credit Courses are a sampling of the courses being offered during the six-week summer session that runs from June 25 through August 3, 2012.

Introduction to Drawing (ART 020)
(MW 9am-2pm)
Introductory experience in making of art through drawing media.

Environmental Science (BI SC 3)
(TWR 12-2pm)
Kinds of environments; past and present uses and abuses of natural resources; disposal of human wastes; prospects for the future.

Effective Speech (CAS 100A)
(TR 9-12:30)
Principles of communication, implemented through presentation of speeches, with some attention to group discussion and message evaluation.

Introduction to Law (CRIM J 113)
(MW 6-9pm)
Introduction to law in society with a focus on criminal law, judicial code, laws of sentencing and corrections, criminal procedure.

Rhetoric and Composition (ENGL 015)
(MTWR 10-11:45)
Instruction and practice in writing expository prose that shows sensitivity to audience and purpose.

Elementary Spanish I (SPAN 001)
(MTR 9:30am -12:30pm)
Audio-lingual approach to basic Spanish; writing.

Elementary Spanish II (SPAN 002)
(MWR 6-9 pm)
Audio-lingual approach to basic Spanish continued; writing.

Students who are accepted into the High School Non-Degree Program will receive a "High School Scholarship" that covers half the cost of their tuition. Please apply early as classes fill quickly.
