Management Skills for Maximum Effectiveness:
Dates: Friday, November 6 and November 13, 2009
Time: 8:00m – 5:00pm
Course # CPE 5008
Fee: $995
This workshop, offered by Polycom at 5 sites, provides an overview of tactical (that is, daily) talent management rather than emphasizing strategic (encompassing a whole organization over time) talent management. While some managers think that it is entirely the responsibility of HR professionals to attract, develop, and retain a talented workforce, this seminar focuses on the manager’s daily role in that process.
You will learn to:
- Explain the business reasons why managers should devote time and effort to talent management as part of their daily work—not doing more but simply working smarter to get the work out while also attracting, developing, and retaining talented people
- Clarify what is meant by talent management and the roles, goals, and accountabilities that should be established at all levels—including for managers
- Describe an overall model of what managers should do every day
- Emphasize how managers can attract, develop, and retain workers on a daily basis
