GAAP and International Accounting Standards:
The Move Toward Convergence

Program Description:
A review of the ongoing effort by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the International Accounting Standards Board to achieve convergence between American GAAP and International Accounting Standards.
Areas of emphasis include:
• Major differences between GAAP and International Accounting Standards;
• How the differences have developed over time;
• Major projects underway between the FASB and IASB to resolve differences;
• Differences in Accounting standards that will be especially difficult to resolve;
• How the effort towards convergence will affect Accountants in the United States.
Your Instructor:
Joel Wagoner, MBA, CPA, CMA, CFM is Assistant Professor of Accounting at Arcadia University. A Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, and Certified Financial Manager. Mr. Wagoner earned his MBA from Regis University, graduating with highest honors. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Accounting Association, and Institute of Management Accountants.
