How much do your services cost?

To offer credit courses on-site at your company, tuition costs are the same as they would be if employees were to take courses at our campus. Penn State offers the best value for your tuition dollar. Quality education that's affordable, flexible, and convenient.

For professional development offerings, the prices vary based on the length of the program and the amount of customization needed. Penn State fees include all development, instruction, evaluation, and a follow-up visit. After a complimentary needs assessment, each program is developed for individual clients and priced accordingly.

For credit courses, how will employees register, get their books, and meet with counselors?

For credit and noncredit courses, we bring all the University’s resources, including books and registration services, on-site to you at times that are convenient for you. Essentially, your site becomes another Penn State site.

As a student taking courses at my company, can I access other resources of the University?

Yes, once you’ve registered, you are a Penn State student who has access to the University’s libraries and events. You will receive a Penn State I.D. card upon registration.

How customized is customized?

We’ve found that doing a thoughtful needs assessment and talking to our clients helps us to decide, together, how customized a program should be. Frequently, we will interview managers and employees to get information, for instance, to build a company-specific case study or to make sure that the examples we use in programs are industry-specific and as relevant as possible. Certainly programs build from an existing Penn State base of program materials, but one of the hallmarks of our services is that all programs are customized.

How do you evaluate the impact of your training programs?

An issue for all training and development professionals and timely as resources become hard to justify. With every Penn State Outreach program, participants are asked to complete an evaluation at the end of the program. For longer programs, we frequently do evaluations periodically, to make sure that what we are presenting is on-track with expectations of participants and clients. In addition, we can do focus groups and surveys following programs to measure impact, after some time has elapsed from the actual program delivery date.

What we’ve found to be essential in adequate program evaluation is to make sure, up front, that program goals and expectations are clear. Evaluation is critical to our work and we begin discussing it during the first client visit.

For on-site credit programs, how do students handle costs?

This varies organization to organization. Penn State Abington asks students to pay $100 at the start of the program and then works out individual client payment arrangements, based on what will work best for the students. Our goal is to make sure that students’ personal expense is as limited and manageable as possible.

Most training companies and educational institutions talk about developing “partnerships.” What does this mean and how does Penn State do it?

To Penn State Abington, this concept is essential to successfully delivering any program. In fact, in addition to the faculty who develop and teach Penn State “on-site” programs, Penn State Abington has an “outreach team” of four dedicated professionals who are involved with all stages of the process.

Relationships we build with clients are of utmost importance to us. We work to learn as much as we can about the organization so not only is the program we deliver relevant and useful, but also that we continue to serve and inform over time. We pride ourselves on staying in close touch with our clients providing first-rate customer service. We welcome you to contact us for a list of satisfied clients.
