Introduction to .NET Framework Technologies and XML.NET (1.5 CEUs)
XML and XML-based technologies and tools enable developers to
build inter-operable systems rapidly and react quickly to changes
as required by business needs. As the Internet's growth continues,
more and more Web-based services will be delivered over the
Internet through XML-based technologies. .NET is Microsoft's
platform for XML Web services, allowing applications to communicate
and share data over the Internet regardless of operating system
or programming language. After learning the basics of XML language
as a generic tool for data communication, .NET platform for
XML development will be examined. No knowledge of XML is assumed
as a prerequisite.
Developing .NET Solutions with Visual
Basic.NET
CSE 5203 (2.1 CEUs)
VB.Net is Microsoft's upgrade of the Visual Basic 6 programming
environment. This course will introduce the student to the Visual
Basic.Net design environment, controls, properties, and event
procedures. At the conclusion of the course, students will have
written a basic Windows program using Visual Basic.Net.

Developing
.NET Solutions with C#
CSE 5200 (2.1 CEUs)
C# is a modern, object-oriented language intended to be the
premier language for writing Microsoft .NET Framework applications
for the enterprise. In this hands-on course, students can learn
the basics of the C# programming language. Topics include the
.NET Framework, understanding the C# language and syntax, an
introduction to Object-Oriented Design and Programming for C#,
Windows Forms, and debugging and deploying C# applications.
Prerequisites: Experience with a programming language
is required
Building
Web-Based Solutions Using ASP.NET
CSE 5206 (2.1 CEUs)
ASP.NET is Microsoft's primary technology for building dynamic,
database-driven Web applications. This hands-on course teaches
students to create ASP.NET applications. Topics include ASP.NET
architecture, Web form and server controls, validation controls,
building WML(Wireless Markup Language) pages, creating custom
controls and creating business components.
Prerequisites: XML.NET and VB.NET or C#
Developing
.NET Web Services and ADO.NET Applications (2.1 CEUs)
In this comprehensive and hands-on course, students can learn
the skills they need to develop Web Services that will be hosted
in the new Microsoft .NET platform. In addition, students can
learn the ADO.NET model. Topics include underlying technologies
involved in Web Service communication and discovery such as
XML, SOAP, WSDL, DISCO, understanding ADO.NET, managed providers,
understanding and using DataSets, and accessing XML through
ADO.NET.
Prerequisites: XML.NET, ASP.NET, and VB.NET or C# of
forms, documents, and related math.
Advanced VB.NET (2.1 CEUs)
The focus of the course will on building business logic and
data access services using Visual Basic.NET of .NET framework.
Oracle9i and SQL Server 2000 will be the backend database servers.
Topics included are building multitier programs with classes,
windows database applications, programming stored procedures
and triggers, programming components in VB.NET and building
windows based front end with Visual Basic.NET forms.
Prerequisite: VB.NET
