Math on the Menu (YTHPR 5006)
Entering Grades 3-5

Schedule # 322867, Fee  $275
Monday-Friday, July 13-17, 9am to 4pm, Registration Closed

Can you predict how many licks on a Tootsie Roll Pop will get you to the center?  What is the probability of having a bag of M&Ms being green?  How many bubbles can you make with your favorite bubble gum before you pop?  Campers will explore math by looking at and working with food. Campers will even create and design their own restaurant menu, as well as test recipes, prepare snacks and share with friends.  Join us as we discover tasty new ways of using and exploring math!

Math Options for Girls (YTHPR 5144)
Entering Grades 6-10

Schedule #324009, Fee  $150
Monday-Friday, July 13-17, 9am to 4pm, Registration Closed

Do you have a unique interest in math and science?  Did you ever wonder what an engineer or a biochemist does?  Girls entering grades 6 through 10 are invited to participate in this uniquely designed program intended to help girls explore and experience the many different career choices available in fields involving science, technology, engineering and math.  Students will participate in hands-on activities and lab experiences led by instructors and professionals working in these high demand careers.  This camp is being partially supported by the Math Options program at Penn State Abington

Castles and Catapults (YTHPR 5085)
Entering Grades 6-12

Schedule # 322623, Fee $325
Monday-Friday, July 6-10, 9am to 4pm, Registration Closed

Join us gallant knights and fair maidens for a trip back in time!  Through self-discovery and instructor-led, hands-on activities, we will explore and strive to understand the mathematics and physics of medieval warfare.  Conduct historical research, problem solve, and participate in interactive competitions.  The result of this program will be sufficient understanding of castle and catapult design to compete in a simulation of medieval warfare.

Rocking with Rocketry (YTHPR 5078)
Entering Grades 6-12

Schedule # 322894, Fee $325
Monday-Friday, July 13-17, 9am to 4pm, Registration Closed

Come and explore the basics of rocketry through a variety of hands-on experiments.  Participants will learn rocket construction techniques, how to safely launch rockets, track altitudes, rocket types, rocket engines, and the science involved in powered flight.

Exploring Engineering (YTHPR 5008)
Entering Grades 7-12

Schedule # 322560, Fee  $260
Monday-Thursday, June 29- July 2 (4 days only), 9am to 4pm, Registration Closed

What makes an airplane fly?  Can you design a balsa wood airplane that can stay in the air for over a minute?  Designing a bridge is one of the most fundamental engineering problems we have.  What type of bridge is the most useful for a long distance and what type of bridge can hold the most weight? What is your favorite type of roller coaster?  Why don't wooden roller coasters have loops?  What makes a roller coaster such a thrill for some and an extreme fear for others?   Learn the physics concepts that explain the flights of airplanes and birds, what engineering problems we face when designing a bridge and the basic physics concepts behind roller coaster design including investigating hills, loops and rolls.

Busting Those Myths (YTHPR 5023)
Entering Grades 8-12

Schedule # 322939, Fee  $325
Monday-Friday, July 20-24, 9am to 4pm, Registration Closed

This program is designed for serious fans of the Discovery Channel's popular and exciting show MythBusters. Come learn how to separate truth from urban legend.  We will use modern day science to show you what is real and what is fiction. Join us to create and implement various scientific experiments that test the validity of different phenomena.  Students will explore questions such as:  Can you freeze a glass to the table during dinner?  How far can you throw a curve ball?  And can you take the salt out of salt water?
