Using Lego Mindstorm Robotics Invention System, teams of participants will learn to design their own robot inventions in this hands-on workshop. Learn to combine Legos, motors, sensors and computer software to create moving robots that react to light, avoid obstacles, and do amazing things.

In this exciting workshop we will be developing basic interactive computer games with Macromedia Flash or GMAX, using animation and action scripting. Gaming basics will be covered, such as keeping track of lives, scores, shooting targets, dragging and dropping objects, logic games, manipulation of text, and more.

Join us as we explore the two major visual design programs: Basic HTML Coding and Graphics Manipulation. Students will use free web programs, music networks, and also GIMP graphics software to build an online music library and manipulate photos from the web and also from their own digital cameras. Students are encouraged to bring a digital camera with its accessories (or a storage device (flash drive) with their own saved photos) and a pair of headphones. Students will learn HTML basics and then will progress to more advanced web page coding while exploring interactive ways of adding their photos and media to their posted web pages. Students will go live to the web so that their work can be seen from home!
The Art of Poster Design (YTHPR 5090)

This class will focus on creating posters with original illustrations. It will teach the industry standard software, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Students will also learn how to use these programs to create original and unique illustrations. Each student needs only to come in with an idea for a poster and they will leave with an original poster design with a one of a kind original illustration.

This program will focus on creating original illustrations and the art of layout design. It will teach the industry standard software, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Each student needs only to come in with an idea for a short comic or magazine article and they will leave with their own comic or article design with a one-of-a-kind original illustrations.
