Schedule # 109503

Fee: $125 (1 session)
We will discuss the typical sequence involved in children’s understanding of various significant life-changing events (e.g., the birth of a sibling, the divorce of his/her parents, the child or a family member diagnosed with a chronic illness, etc.). It will be demonstrated that the effects of the child’s understanding of such events influences their reactions to the events. This in turn will enhance a teacher’s understanding of the student’s reactions and behavior exhibited in the classroom. Films and books will also be used to clarify concepts.

Fee: $125 (1 session)
As the nation celebrated the 50th anniversary of the 1954 Brown vs. Board of Education decision that outlawed “separate but equal” education, it is important to consider that the greatest extension of that case may very well be in special education. Explore current law on special education—an alphabet soup of regulations such as IEPs and IDEA. Tackle the question of whether we have gone too far or not far enough.
