Abington Golf Team takes third place in PSUAC Championships

The Penn State Abington Men’s Golf Team traveled to State College over the weekend to play in the PSUAC Championship. After Monday’s round Penn State Abington was tied with PS Hazleton with a 329.  Steve Alexander (Pennridge High School) led the way for Abington scoring a 78 while both Chanont Premon (Bergen Catholic) and John Schiavone (Pennsbury High School) scored an 83 on the Penn State University Blue Course.  

The final round was on Tuesday where Abington was able to finish a strong 3rd scoring 658 overall. This put them 40 strokes behind PSUAC Champions Penn College and 29 strokes behind runner-up PS Wilkes-Barre.  

Penn State Abington’s own Steve Alexander (Pennridge High School) finished 4th overall with a 154 only 6 strokes behind the leader, giving him All-American status.  Chanont Premon (Bergen Catholic) finished with a 164.  John Schiavone (Pennsbury High School), Dan Agee (Newark High School) and Brett Murphy (Father Judge) each scored a 172.  Sam Incollingo (Archbishop Ryan) scored a 174.  Alexander was also selected to the PSUAC All-Tournament team.

Head coach Ed Decker was very pleased with the play of his team.  “The guys competed very well. They kept it together through the final round and we were able to finish 3rd behind 2 very good teams in Penn College and PS Wilkes-Barre,” said Decker.
