Women soccer tie with Cedar Crest
Oct. 8, 2009 – Abington, PA – The Penn State Abington women’s soccer team hosted Cedar Crest College at Huntingdon Road Fields and left the field with a 1-1 tie in double overtime.
In the first half the Nittany Lions kept the pressure on Cedar Crest by attacking the net. Penn State Abington had a total of six shots to two for Cedar C rest. The added pressure paid off for Abington as they were able to score on a penalty kick by sophomore Amanda Peace (Bensalem, PA / Nazareth Academy) in the 39th minute. It was Pearce’s first goal of the season.
The Nittany Lions took a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
The second half of the game saw Cedar Crest applying the pressure to the Nittany Lions. Cedar Crest had 11 shots to Abington’s 4 shots. Cedar Crest tied the game in the 51st minute when Tabitha King scored on an assist from Jennie Huber.
At the end of regulation the game was tied 1-1 which led to 2 overtimes and nobody scoring ending in the 1-1 tie.
Penn State Abington returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Camden, NJ to take on Rutgers-Camden. Game time is 12:30 p.m.
