David Castellanos , Head Men's Soccer Coach
In his fifth season with the men and women’s soccer teams, Coach David Castellanos has high expectations from both teams. “Our goal for the men’s program this season is to win the division. The maturing women’s team is expected to finish well above the 500 mark this season.” This is no ordinary request from coach Castellanos, as he sets his goals each season to improve as a mentor and leader.
Born in Fairfax, Virigina, David Castellanos found a love for soccer at an early age. He would place a strong marker on himself to make the under 20 US National Team, and that he did twice. Maturing into a more profound player, Castellanos would take his talents to the NCAA D-I stage as he became a member of the University of Connecticut’s men’s soccer team, where he would have an immediate impact on the program. He was a starter on the Huskies NCAA D-I National Championship Team in 2000 and in 2001 he was selected as an All-American. As his senior year of college came to a close his opportunity as a professional soccer player arose.
In 2002 Castellanos would travel to Honduras, where he would play for the CD Montague team. Two years would pass and with much knowledge gained he would begin his professional career in the US. Castellanos would commit to the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2004, but would soon find his true home in 2006 when he made a firm decision to join the Philadelphia Kixx organization, to which he is still dedicated too.
David graduated in 2003 from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor's of Science in Sociology and a minor in Spanish. He is currently residing in Philadelphia.
