Women’s Volleyball take on three PSUAC Opponents

Media, PA – The Penn State Abington women’s volleyball team traveled to Media, PA to participate in a quad match with 3 other PSUAC Opponents. The ended the day 1-2 overall.
Their first match was against Penn State Fayette where they lost 0-3 (16-25, 10-25, 18-25). The Lady Lions of Abington were only able to get a total of 13 kills out of 63 total attacks. PS Abington struggled in trying to get a rhythm going on the court. They were only able to come up with 5 aces along with 23 digs.
In the second match, even though they lost to Penn State Beaver 0-3 (14-25, 11-25, 18-25), they were able to get in sync better. The Lady Lions were led by sophomore outside hitter Jessica Kane (John W. Hallahan / Philadelphia, PA) who had a team high 9 kills . Defensively, sophomore outside hitter Amanda Votta (Council Rock South / Holland, PA) led the way with 9 digs. Overall the team combined for 23 kills, 6 aces and 28 digs.
The last match of the day put Penn State Abington against Penn State Greater Allegheny. PS Abington won the match 3-0 (25-9, 25-5, 25-7). The team was led by sophomore outside hitter Jessica Kane (John W. Hallahan / Philadelphia, PA) who had 6 kills and a game high 11 aces. Sophomore outside hitters Lauren Connell (Archbishop Wood / Horsham, PA) and Danielle Regan (St. Hubert’s / Philadelphia, PA) had 5 kills each. Junior setter Megan Sawicki (St. Hubert’s / Philadelphia, PA) dished out 13 assists and had 5 aces. Overall the team combined for a season high 30 aces.
