Women’s Volleyball take on conference rivals Penn College and PS Hazleton

Abington, PA – The Women’s Volleyball team traveled to Hazleton, PA to take on conference rivals Penn College and Penn State Hazleton in a tri-match.
In their first match they lost to Penn College 0-3 (20-25, 18-25, 12-25). Sophomore outside hitters Jessica Kane (John W. Hallahan / Philadelphia, PA) and Lauren Connell (Archbishop Wood / Horsham, PA) led the way for PS Abington combining for 17 kills; 9 and 8 respectively. Kane also had 10 digs against a very tough Penn College team. Junior setter Megan Sawicki (St. Hubert’s / Philadelphia, PA) dished out 24 assists and led the team with 13 digs. Overall PS Abington combined for 40 digs and 85 total attacks.
The second match was against the host team in Penn State Hazleton. Penn State Abington came out on top winning 3-1 (25-16, 17-25, 25-22, 25-22) after a tough four matches. The Lady Lions of Abington were led by sophomore outside hitter Jessica Kane (John W. Hallahan / Philadelphia, PA) who had 18 kills on 46 total attacks. Defensively sophomore libero Jennifer Lee (Cliffside / Cliffside, NJ) had a team high 20 digs and 5 aces. Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Connell (Archbishop Wood / Horsham, PA) had a solid performance where she combined for 9 kills, 6 aces and 8 digs.
