THE LADY LIONS TRAVEL TO POMONA, NJ TO PARTICIPATE IN THE OSPREY CLASSIC

POMONA, NJ – The Women’s Volleyball team participated in the Osprey Classic at Richard Stockton College in Pomona, NJ. They went up against some tough competition aside from the host team they also played Gwynedd Mercy College and Widener University.
In their first match against Richard Stockton College they lost 0-3 (10-25, 11-25, 9-25). This was a tough match for the Lady Lions to get themselves going. Defensively they struggled with only 17 total digs with sophomore Jennifer Lee (Cliffside / Cliffside, NJ) handling 5 of those 17 digs. On the attack the Lady Lions came up short with only 6 kills and sophomore Jessica Kane (John W. Hallahan / Philadelphia, PA) had 3 of those 6 kills. Overall the Lady Lions gave all they could against a tough Osprey team.
Their second match put them face-to-face against Gwynedd Mercy. The Lady Lions lost 0-3 (11-25, 11-25, 11-25) as they picked up their defense and combined for a team 27 digs. Sophomores Jessica Kane (John W. Hallahan / Philadelphia, PA) and Jennifer Lee (Cliffside / Cliffside, NJ) led the defensive attach with 7 and 8 digs respectively.
Their last match of the day was against Widener University. They lost 0-3 (7-25, 10-25, 10-25) but had another consistent defensive game. The team combined for 25 digs where junior Megan Sawicki (St. Hubert’s / Philadelphia, PA) and sophomore Lauren Connell (Archbishop Wood / Horsham, PA) led the team with 9 digs each. On the attack the team combined for 10 kills where Connell had 3 kills along with sophomore Christina Fuentes (Abraham Lincoln / Philadelphia, PA).
