Women’s Volleyball goes 0-2 at Tri-Match

September 10, 2011 – Allentown, PA - The Penn State Abington women’s volleyball team travelled to Allentown, PA for a tri-match against Cedar Crest College and Penn State Brandywine.  The Nittany Lions went 0-2 on the day as they fell to 2-3 overall.

In the first match against Cedar Crest College, Penn State Abington lost 0-3 (15-25, 11-25, 16-25).  The Nittany Lions struggled offensively as they were only able to tally 15 kills in their three sets.   They had 18 digs as well as 6 service aces for the match.

Leading the way for Penn State Abington was junior Jenny Abraham (Philadelphia, PA / Central) who had a team high 5 kills and 3 service aces and 3 digs.  Freshman Kate Schalck (Warminster, PA / William Tennent)  added 4 kills while sophomore Keyshla Malave Rivera (Philadelphia, PA / Kensington Culinary Art) registered 5 digs.

In the second match of the day the Nittany Lions played Penn State Brandywine and lost in 3 sets (17-25, 8-25, 22-25).  Again, Penn State Abington struggled offensively as they only combined for 12 kills. 

Schalck led the way for the Nittany Lions with 4 kills, 2 service aces and 3 digs.  Junior Maria Narodetsky (Philadelphia, PA / George Washington) had 8 assists.

The women’s volleyball team returns to action on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 when they host Bryn Athyn College.  The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
