Men’s soccer get first win in the NEAC
Sept. 19, 2009 - Utica, NY - The men’s soccer team improved to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference as they beat North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponent, SUNY-IT, 2-1 in double overtime.
The Nittany Lions got on the scoreboard first when sophomore Elsion Pajollari (Korce, Albania / Northeast) scored on a penalty kick in the 23rd minute. The game winning goal for Penn State Abington came in the 2nd overtime when the ball hit a defender, counting as an own goal.
“This is a great win for us. Our first win as a member of the NEAC feels pretty good,” said Head Coach David Castellanos. “The guys played real well. I am proud of how well everybody played. We still have work to do but things look real good for us.”
The men’s soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, September 23 as they travel to Aston, PA to take on non-conference opponent, Neumann University. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
