Chris Potash (Head Men's Basketball Coach)
Chris Potash enters his second season as the head coach of the Men’s Basketball Team.
In his first year at the helm, Potash had a 3-22 record and had one player selected to the NEAC All-Conference team.
Prior to Penn State Abington, Potash was an assistant coach at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia
Before coaching at USP, Potash served as the head boys’ basketball coach at several prominent New Jersey high schools, including The Peddie School and Robbinsville High School.
He also served as an assistant coach at Drew University. He was twice named New Jersey Prep Coach of the Year, and coached a future Big 5 and Ivy League Player of the Year, Ibrahim Jaaber, while at Peddie.
Actively involved in the Philadelphia and New Jersey camp and clinic circuit, Potash drew praise from the blog NorthStar Basketball in 2009: “When you see how often Potash is on the road recruiting, it is hard to fathom that his job at DII University of the Sciences in Philly is merely a part-time gig. Potash is the former coach at both Princeton Day School—he coached Joey Gallo—and Peddie School (NJ), a big-time prep program. With his background in the New Jersey area, combined with the great job of recruiting that he is doing at USP, it might not be long before he lands a full-time job ….”
Potash earned his bachelor’s from York College (PA) and his master’s from The College of New Jersey.
