Jose Rodriguez enters his second season as the head coach of the Penn State Abington men's cross country team and the third season as the head coach of the women’s cross country team.

During the 2010 season, Rodriguez led the men’s team to a 6th place finish overall at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships, which were held in Reading, PA.  Freshman Nathaniel Wilson finished 8th earning him selection to the Second Team All-Conference.  Rodriguez also had his team participate, for the first time, in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Cross Country Championships at Colt State Park in Bristol, RI.   There were a total of 44 teams that competed and the Nittany Lions finished 40th with 1164 points, one point behind Sage College who finished 39th.

Rodriguez also led the women’s team to a 7th place finish at the NEAC Championships.  Freshman Kathryn Colley had a great showing where she finished 3rd earning her a First Team All-Conference selection while senior Samantha Frick finished 13th overall giving her the Second Team All-Conference honor.  Rodriguez also had had four members of the women’s team compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Cross Country Championships at Colt State Park in Bristol, RI for the first time in school history.

In 2009, Rodriguez guided the women's team to an 8th place finish at the NEAC Championships and had two runners selected to All-Conference teams.

He has been a part of the Abington campus community for 15 years and is presently the Director of Intercultural Affairs.

Rodriguez brings an impressive background as a collegiate and adult runner to the program. A graduate of Allegheny College, Rodriguez ran on the varsity team for 3 years, a team that qualified for the NCAA Regionals in his junior and senior years. Still active in the running world, he often runs in 5K, 10K and Half Marathons.
